How to find Lewins

From the north (A21) find the A267 south of Tunbridge Wells but avoid Tunbridge Wells itself by

Ignoring the first turning off the A21 (labelled A26) and continue until the A264 to Tunbridge Wells. Follow the signs to Tunbridge Wells for about a mile (camera in 30mph zone) when at a crossroads with traffic lights you turn left to the Crematorium! You go along this winding road for about a mile and a half until you come to a T junction, which is with the A267. Turn left and you go through Frant, then Mark Cross, at which you turn right for Rotherfield.

From the east head for Mark Cross on the A267

At Mark Cross take the B2100 to Rotherfield. After about 1.5 miles you join the main street at the Kings Arms pub; turn left and look for Meadow View which is the second turning on the right, leading to the Catholic Church. Turn into Meadow view and Lewins is the semi detached house on the corner, so turn immediately right into our drive. Our house sign is in slate, attached to a tree stump.

From Crowborough on the B2100, enter the village and continue along the main street, which becomes Mayfield Road. About 300 yards after the Kings Arms pub you find Lewins

From the south or from the A272 take the A267 and go through Five Ashes and about 400 yards after leaving Five Ashes take the Rotherfield turning on the left. Follow this country road until you enter Rotherfield, when it becomes Mayfield Road. About 50 yards beyond the village sign is Meadow View.

This is who to look for. Me with a mallet head that has a decorative sightline. I had to widen a wavering groove and the result looks quite good. It's not standard though. Taken by the local postmaster, Ron Summerfield.
